Showcase XIV

Similarly with the Greco-Roman period, the houses of medieval Cherson were covered with roofs of tiles. In the right part of the vitrine, the examples of medieval tile are presented.

The urban architecture used another product made by local potters. At the bottom, you can see square and rectangular bricks, or plinths, that were used for small churches floor surfacing, for laying out fish-salting cisterns, and for building special anti-seismic courses of masonry within urban constructions.

Large-scale construction contributed to the development of various crafts, especially that of scabbling. At the upper left part of the vitrine, you can see stone-working tools: metal dressing axes, chisels, axe-pick, and trowel.
