Urban architecture. Side by side with the
churches, medieval residential houses were erected above the ancient
foundations.
In this vitrine, there are graphical
reconstructions of urban houses of Cherson. The urban estate consisted of
living and household rooms grouping around the courtyard with a well or cistern
for non-drinkable water. Many houses were built with basement and projecting
wooden or stone top floor. The top floor was usually used as a living area,
thought the kitchen, larders, and workshops were quartered at the ground floor.
In outhouses and under shelters, they kept household equipment, cattle and
poultry.
