Showcase VII
|
In this vitrine, you can take closer look at
large reliquary crosses that, in contrast to underwear crosses, were worn on
the top of the cloths and used for holding objects of Christian veneration, for
example, fragments of relics, cloth or wood.
This
vitrine also presents church utensils. There are thuribles hanging on chains
and made in a form of a bowl with horizontal handles. Below the crosses, you
can see fragments of stationary marble reliquaries, which were used to place
relics under churches altars. At the bottom of the vitrine, on the right, there
is a stand with the fifth or sixth century cross, carved of local limestone.
The inscription on the cross states: "(In the) memory of the holy martyr
Anastasia".
