Showcase XXVI

The closeness to the sea made fishing the most simple and popular occupation of the Chersonites. For fishing, they used nets and paternosters; big fish was speared with harpoons; various tackles with fishhooks were applied, too.

In the vitrine, you can see fishing hooks and sinkers that were fastened to nets and other tackles. Sinkers were manufactured in the form of small ceramic pyramids and barrels with drilled-through holes, as well as in the form of lead rings, or were made of stone fragments or flat ceramic fragments with through holes.
